Marika Mahne Pretorius

Marika Mahne (Pretorius) is a South African artist based in the heart of Pretoria,Gauteng. She is passionate about her city and country; drawing its surrounding significant and sentimental spaces. She has intentionally immersed herself in the architecture and cityscape heritage of Pretoria since 2015. She strives to capture its essence and the ownership of spaces by incorporating a sense of growth and life.
She focuses on natural and topographic elements and bird life movement in conjunction with architectural
heritage and newer developments. She specialises in a variety of dip-pen inks as well as incorporating a mixture of mediums on fine-arts paper
to hold a micro detail and the aerial views simultaneously. In ideal situations large scale mural size projections of her work confront the viewer to be immersed into the
essence of the landscape she tries to translate.
